Woo-hoo! First rejection letter*!

…Well, I figure that moping over not getting a story placed is going to get me nowhere.  Besides, now that opens up an existing story to submit elsewhere, AND a place that I can submit a story to.  So, hey, it helps with the churn.

*Technically, the first rejection letter I ever got was for a really bad Sam Cogley Star Trek detective story that I wrote when I was maybe fifteen.  Dear God, but did that thing suck!  They could have sent it back to me on fire and smelling of skunk oil and it would have still been a fair editorial criticism.

  1. Long ago and far away…….

The first rejection letter I received said re my submission of a Regency Romance: Clarissa or the Kissing Cousins. We don’t handle books about incest…. Obviously, the NY reviewer did not know southern/midwestern categories.

Next, I received a hand written rejection letter from George Scithers of Isaac Asimov’s SF mag of my short story Abandon in Place:
Good concept. Not quite what we want. Try us again with something different.

I figured it just didn’t get any better than that and never submitted anything again.

    YOU GO GUY!

  2. Congratulations, Moe!

Seriously, you’re on your way. You’re further down the path to being a *published* author than most of the country.
