Ten Things That I Do Not Mind About 2016.

Because why not?

  1. The Cubs won the World Series.  Not because I’m a Cubs fan (I’m not, particularly), or because I’m happy that now they’ll shut up about it (I am).  But because I listened to the last game on the radio, essentially – and I forgot how much fun that sort of thing is.
  2. It was not a bad year for movies. A bunch of good ones and at least one flat-out wonderful one (Arrival).  Go figure: I’m a proud ‘big explosions in space’ kind of guy when it comes to movies and the movie I liked most this year was about a bunch of people drawing linguistic concepts on whiteboards.
  3. The Delta Green RPG came back.
  4. The Seventh Sea RPG also came back, and – thanks in no small part to my readership – I was able to get my wife a nice gift associated with it.
  5. My wife and kids are all fine, thank God.
  6. Even with the change in circumstances, my family’s still in good financial shape, thank God.
  7. I’m doing creative writing again! I mean, I never quite stopped, but I can apparently still remember how to put one word in front of the other.
  8. I got to run a con game again! Kind of missed doing that. Although, dear God but it makes one sweat.
  9. I have excellent readers. No, I’m not just sucking up. I mean, obviously I’m sucking up a little, but you get to have a little sucking up, because you’re excellent readers.  And number 10?
  10. …I get to watch 2016 go away in about four and a half hours.

  1. I miss your insights, but given how some have bent themselves to defend the indefensible, I can hardly blame you. Many a page has gotten harder to read these last 6 months. Glad you’re still here in a different capacity.

  2. Happy New Year Moe. I’ll add my voice to missing your insights, but I get the need to disconnect.
