And it is just as beautiful as anyone could ask for. Mind you, it is electric — Sprave’s taken a power drill and is using it to power the rack and pinion mechanism that recocks the crossbow — but it’s still gorgeous. Heck, it’s understandable. Watch this a few times, and you really get how the mechanism works.
Seriously: this is why the single most powerful spell in GURPS is Dancing Object (used to be called Air Golem). You can use it to fuel an entire Industrial Revolution. …But I am getting far afield, here. Suffice it to say that Joerg Sprave really has a gift for this stuff.

I long for a Home Alone remake where the burglars are trying to break into Mr. Sprave’s compound.
It’d turn into a thirty-minute seminar where Sprave would walk the two increasingly-interested burglars through how they got caught in his first rubber band-powered trap, and then another thirty minutes where all three of them shot various projectiles through ballistic gel.
So, yeah: me too.
