I did not know (I think*) that Bill Paxton directed ‘Fish Heads.’

Via Facebook: If you are my age and you had MTV, you have seen this video. Often over the strenuous disapproval of your parents, who found ‘Fish Heads’ utterly bizarre.  And to be fair, it was.  I had no idea Bill Paxton, may he rest in peace, directed and starred in it:

Learn something new every day, huh?

*Maybe somebody has told me, and I’ve forgotten it.

  1. It’s one of those facts that I had forgot I knew as well. The other bit is that half of Barns & Barns is Bill Mumy of Lost In Space and Babylon 5…

  2. He was in Pat Benatar’s “Shadows of the Night” video as well as a German soldier. Judge Reinhold’s in that too, for some random reason.

  3. I used to love Barnes and Barnes. I have ‘best of’ EP that is in the shape of a fish head, with of course ‘Fish Heads’ as well as ‘I Had Sex on TV’, ‘Work the Meat’, ‘Swallow My Love’, and ‘Party In My Pants’.

    Yeah.

  4. Never had cable during the salad days of MTV, but was an undergrad back in the early 80s and they would have various movies and whatnot on campus every week.

    .

I’m pretty sure that’s where I first saw “Fish Heads” and some other low-budget indie shorts like “Hardware Wars”, most of which have been lost (at least as far as my memory of them goes) in the foggy mists of time.
