The “The Dark Tower” trailer.

What?  Yes, I’m feeling much better. After seventeen hours of sleep in the last twenty four, I certainly hope that I’d be feeling better. Anyway, The Dark Tower is coming out August 4th, which is why it wasn’t on my list (I cut it off at the end of July). Rest assured, I’m there for it.

Yeah, I’m sold.

  1. Is this just an ‘inspired by’ with maybe more films if it does well? Because 90% of that trailer isn’t in the first Dark tower book.

  2. I didn’t recognize anything that happened in that trailer. I recognized some characters, but other than that, nothing. And where is Oy?

  3. I’ll admit I never caught the Dark Tower books. I did not realize they were “Someone from our world” books ala Thomas Covenant or a myriad of series from the 80’s. And a kid to boot!

In other news, Andromeda finally got me to dust off the 360 and start playing around with the original trilogy again. Andromeda made me think about a few things from the originals and I wanted to take a look at them again. I had an idea for a review of Andromeda, but the gist is this: There are some great story ideas in Andromeda, but they are hidden behind optional quests.

  4. Hmm. Fandango is showing a July 28th release. (Looks up) ” In late March 2017, it was pushed back again to August 4, 2017, switching places with Sony Pictures Animation’s The Emoji Movie…”

Oh, well if they pushed it back for The Emoji Movie, then I can understand. That’s a film that will change the course of modern cinema.

    1. Well, Stephen King used Clint Eastwood’s Man Without A Name as the model for Roland. The Dark Tower is kind of Lord of the Rings filtered through Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns.

  5. I hope it’s good.

The series has lots of fans, and adaptations of King has been inconsistent.

  6. If the movie is as good as the short story that launched the novels, then it’ll be worth ponying up :10bux: for. If it’s the terrible Gary Stu self-insert mishmash the books turned into, then it won’t be. It looks promising, but I’ve been burned by trailers before.
