Castlevania coming to Netflix as an animated series.

I never played Castlevania, because I never had a NES, because I was lucky to have a Commodore 64.  But if this was your jam*, back in the day, then Netflix wants your attention.  Apparently Warren Ellis is doing the writing, too:

Amusing intro to that trailer, too.  It’s what convinced me to put it up, in fact.  It’s the little things, huh?

*Did I say that right?  I’m pretty sure that’s what the kids say, these days. It seemed weirdly appropriate.

“my jam” was a phrase the chef I washed dishes for back in the 90’s used a lot. Strange to hear it as “hip” dialog…

FYI, Castlevania did get a C64 port, but it was not as good as the NES original.

  • Luke says:

Flashbacks of many hours happily wasted.
The big thing about the Castlevania series is that they shamelessly reused resources. It was one of the first sidescrollers that didn’t just proceed screen left. You traversed the same levels forwards and backwards several times as you gained abilities that allowed you access areas you couldn’t before.
