Quote of the Day, Pork Roll edition.

I don’t know if this quote is true, and I choose not to find out. It sounds like something Sinatra might say, and that’s good enough for me. Hoboken, like the rest of New Jersey, puts its hooks in a man.

“What’s pork roll?”
“May god have mercy on your poor soul.”
-Frank Sinatra—Hoboken, N.J.

PS: It’s just not the same when you make it yourself, somehow.

      1. Someone should be sacked for that…

I bought a taylor ham once, in Texas, as a random meat item. Had to ask a friend from Jersey what the heck I was supposed to do with it. I ended up just slicing it thin and frying the slices in butter or bacon grease.

        1. …Which is pretty much pork roll, at that. Add some cheese, pepper, ketchup to taste, an egg if you like fried eggs, toss it all in a bun and there you go.

  1. I’m not surprised when I see food items from Japan I’ve never heard of before. I am surprised when I see an item from a region of the US.

  2. Suddenly I’m reminded of the “Pork Bun Man” in the video game “Sleeping Dogs”.

“Man who never have pork bun is not a whole man!”

    😛
