Josephine Baker would have been eleventy-one today.

As Google noted with their doodle that they do daily.  It’s a very odd one, though: not only does it completely forget to mention that Josephine Baker was a spy for the Allies in World War 2 (at a “The Nazis would have been able to shoot her if they had caught her” level of intensity), it also is apparently completely without sound.  You’d think that there would be at least the Charleston on background, or something.

PS: I have a soft spot for folks like Josephine Baker. Marlene Dietrich, too, come to think of it.

  1. Quibble: would have been justified. The ability was certainly present, even without justification.

    1. I agree in theory, but I didn’t want it to put it that way, because in the end the Nazis weren’t justified in doing anything except surrendering en masse for their crimes and sins. 🙂
