Did you know that they wanted to reboot Xena? And now they’re not.

So, whatever your first reaction was to that news, you can safely put it on hold.

NBC is no longer going forward its planned Xena: Warrior Princess reboot, according to THR. The show was originally to have been written by Javier Grillo-Marxuach (Lost). Today NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke told the site that the reboot in its current form is no longer happening.

You’re wondering why they wanted to reboot it in the first place?  Aside from the usual answer that entertainment media never seems to have any new ideas anymore?  Well, in this case it was to explore “the implied romantic and sexual relationship between Xena and Gabrielle.”

:pause:

:looking up:

My, aren’t the walls particularly vertical today?

  1. You’d think in the current environment they’d be all over that. The Token Edge-o-sexual Relationship is a major trend in just about every media I’ve followed in the last year. Oftentimes it’s even Not Sucked. Perhaps they think the market is actually saturated for the moment?
