Amazon announces… changes… to Whole Foods.

Essentially: starting Monday, cheaper prices and steady integration into Amazon Prime and other services. Oh, and there’ll be a rollout of Amazon Lockers at Whole Foods. And whatever other bribes that Amazon can think of, I’m sure.

Speaking from a Machiavellian point of view: this deal is rather entertainingly ruthless.  Because there’s no sense in pretending that this merger won’t end up blunting some of the criticism (from certain quarters) that currently comes Amazon’s way.  Grab ’em by the self-interest, as they say, and hearts and minds will follow.

  1. Closest Whole Foods to me, that I’m aware of, is in Portland, Maine. (60 miles)

Until they build one closer this doesn’t affect me much.

  2. Okay, *now* this makes sense ..

I mean, if you’re a salmon rancher, and you’re dealing with Whole Foods, that’s one thing .. but if you suddenly expect to be dealing with Amazon .. maybe it’s time to have a “Greek fire**” and find another line of work.
