New phone! Not a Jesusphone!

I thought about it, but I haven’t been impressed with Apple’s products since the Toymaker died.  There’s just something missing there, now. So I replaced the Amazon Fire Phone (yeah, I bought one of those) with a Samsung Galaxy J7* and put in a SD card for an extra 64 gigs.  Why? Because I am now transferring all of my music to my phone, and iTunes can go whistle.  I’m tired of dealing with their nonsense.  After I get everything cleaned up, I’m resetting both the old phone and the iPod, parental-controlling them, and handing them off to my kids to play with.  They’re both perfectly good video cameras for small children, after all.

Alas, all of this means that I had to miss the movie. I’ll go see It tomorrow.

  1. I’m pretty sure Tim Cook and Steve Jobs did not like each other much at all. Having him run Apple is like hiring the *Anti*-Toymaker to fleece the remaining cultists.

  2. When I finally decide to retire the iPhone 6 (or when it dies of natural causes, whichever comes first) the Verizon Store clerk is going to *hate* me.

“Yeah, the iPhone X is cute, but where’s the line out port?”
    .
“How am I supposed to charge it when it’s playing music?”
    .
“No, I’m not spending hundreds of dollars on a new stereo for a ten year old RV!”
    .
“Yeah, the charge pad is slick, but does it have a car adapter?”

To this cat, it’s really quite simple … I do not need a better camera .. I definitely do not need “digital stickers” .. I am not a 14 year old girl .. I need a music device that doesn’t require me to replace a couple decades of electronics just because I upgraded the phone.

If Tim Cook doesn’t grok that, then he can get stuffed.

    1. It was shockingly easy to transfer all of my music onto my Samsung, and while the layout isn’t quite as good the Samsung managed to pull in all of the music files.

      1. If it can be told, did “all of the music files” include both iTunes and non-iTunes files?
        .
Also if it can be told .. is there a “line out” ?

Junior Cat has always preferred the android to the apple .. I don’t fault him for not wanting to be a cultist ..

Early on, I wasn’t very impressed, but following the death of The Toymaker, Apple seems to be doing *exactly* what they did the last time they ousted Jobs … trying to do what everyone else is doing instead of trying to do the next *cool* thing.

        1. And yeah, it’s a Samsung. Data/power cable and headphone jack. I dunno why Apple hates orifices so much, but I think that I’m going to be drifting away from their products from now on. I’ll just need a good tablet that isn’t an iPad.

          1. Thank you thrice over, Moe.
            .
I shall drift in the Samsung direction when the time comes.

I’m quite certain Apple’s hatred for the 1950s-era “earphone jack” is over the “analog hole” .. but Tim Cook’s need to appease music execs does not translate into my need to buy more gear.
            .
I’ll .. just leave you with this.
