I had no plans.

What I had was an idea of what had already happened, and what the PCs could do.  What was the plot?  I’d let the players tell me that.  Everything else could be hand-waved or fiddled with on the fly. Don’t get me wrong; you can run a tightly-scheduled, planned-out, and enjoyable convention game.  But running a freeform, let the PCs smash into things, four-hour no-consequences adventure plays so much to my gamemaster strengths that I don’t feel like running a con game any other way.
