‘The Sound of Silence.’

I’m kind of OK now, so regular posting resumes tomorrow.

The Sound of Silence, Disturbed

One of those cover’s that’s better than the original. Though I doubt either set of its creators expected it to be so definitive outside of each of their home genres.

I was shocked when I first heard this version. The only notable changes they made to the song was the singer’s octave and a building crescendo.
And just like that, the song flipped from wistful hippie to darkly foreboding.
Excellent job on their part. It really makes a song that was formerly pretty vapid, downright powerful.
So much so that even YouTubers who normally do older songs are using Disturbed’s arraignment.

I was impressed with Disturbed’s version, but I still prefer the original. I can see how the new version is a reflection of its time, just as the original is.
