A Wrinkle in Time is part of my childhood, OK? OK. I’ll be calm.

    1. They made Start Wars a postmodernism parable of power, with an emphasis on starting over at year zero.
      .
Our childhood memories are going to be violated.

      1. I just don’t see this movie as being able to capture L’Engle’s fundamental intelligence and sense of humanity. It will be progressive, but in a pop way rather than in L’Engle’s academic way. And I doubt it will do right by Meg Murry, who deserves better cinematic treatment than she’s gotten.

  1. I don’t know if Disney, as it is now, can do this properly. We’ll see.

That ad doesn’t fill me with a lot of hope, though. I’m getting flashbacks to the ad campaign for John Carter.

        1. I liked John Carter, as well. It felt pulpy to me, in all the right ways. Granted, even though I read ERB, its not like he was part of my childhood.

But you know what, Moe? How you’re feeling right now? Thats how all us TLJ haters felt after leaving the theater.

      1. The ads are what it puts me in mind of. If you know absolutely nothing about ‘A Wrinkle in Time’, what do the ads tell you?

And the answer that I’m drawing from this is, “Absolutely nothing.” John Carter had that same problem.

Note that I’ve read A Wrinkle in Time, so it’s possible I’m missing something that might draw my attention if I really did know nothing about the book.

  2. You need any more proof it will be politically contaminated then the fact that O. Winfrey is involved???
