  1. Great album, great music.
    .
The one thing missing is John Lee Hooker’s “Boom Boom” .. i.e. the song playin’ when they roll into Maxwell Street.
    .
Of course .. since Maxwell Street is long gone, a victim of 2004 gentrification.
    .
Elwood Blues once said “By the year 2006 the music known today as the blues will exist only in the classical records department in your local public library.” ..
    .
Fortunately, Elwood was .. not entirely correct.

    1. The story goes that the suits left Hooker off of the album – despite the director’s objections – because nobody was gonna care about him anyway. Then, a couple of years later, Hooker hits platinum, so the director calls one of the suits, who was now running Atlantic Records. First words out of the suit’s mouth on the call was “Yeah, yeah, I know.”
