The latest Alita: Battle Angel trailer.

This latest Alita: Battle Angel trailer suggests a bit of the plot.

Specifically, that there’s going to be what TV Tropes calls a Roaring Rampage of Revenge. …I’ll allow it.  There’s something reassuring about a cyborg deciding to use a cruelly murdered loved one’s blood as war paint, somehow.  It shows that she cares.  And that she’s going to take you to the bloody cleaners, pal — but then, I don’t go around murdering people, so I figure that I’m fairly safe.

  1. Looks like it might be good.

    Funny thing…

The Japanese don’t really do live-action action movies. They mostly leave that stuff up to the movie makers over in Hong Kong. They do make lots of animated action movies. It’s just the live action action stuff that they don’t do.

So, of course, when an American gets his hands on the Japanese material, and wants to make something out of it, the first thing he does is turn it into a live-action production (albeit, in this case, with lots of CGI animated stuff). The material is more or less the original Japanese material. And it’s not particularly more or less actiony than the original Japanese version. But for whatever reason, while the Japanese will make action stuff, doing it live action is left to others.

    Go figure.

That’s not a good thing or a bad thing. Merely an observation on how strange the world sometimes is.
