NaNoWriMo, Day 19: 1685/31915.

1,685/31,915

Today we got to meet a police captain!  And a couple of hookers!  You don’t have to have hookers in your detective pulp story, but it doesn’t hurt.

PS: I don’t know when the writing schedule will be disrupted by Thanksgiving, but it’s coming.  Particularly because a minor family medical issue requires us to split the party for Thanksgiving itself, with me at home with one of the kids.  But everything will be fine and this is all a self-imposed deadline anyway.

  1. I’m going to have to pull a very large rabbit out of a very small hat if I am going to get my 50k this year. I see a couple of all-day writing marathons in my future.

Gangster rap and canoeing are not a perfect fit. But I will force them together. At gunpoint, if necessary.

    1. Have you considered involving the Canadian maple-syrup cartel? They’re a thing. Since most of the Allagash wilderness is closer to Quebec than any US settlements, there are Canadian Maple “plantations” throughout the area.

      1. I heard a story on NPR a while back about the Maple Cartel. The are slowly losing their stranglehold on the industry, according to the story.

My novel is pretty much confined to the waterways, so there’s little chance for the characters to run afoul of evil Canadian Syrup Lords.

There is a story there, though.
