Mutant Zero: Road to Eden drops tomorrow.

I mean, I’m downloading Mutant Zero: Road to Eden right now, because I pre-ordered it. but if you didn’t, it’ll be available tomorrow.  Basically, it’s a tactical turn based combat RPG with stealth aspects that uses the X-Com engine.  I really need to get back to that game, too.  I keep meaning to, but… well.  You know how it is. Not enough time.

  1. I’ve been playing Phantom Doctrine, which uses the X-Com engine (or one very like it), but deals with espionage and a global conspiracy in the early 1980’s. The story ties real-life events into the conspiracy, which makes it a bit more engaging for those of us who were around during that time.

I ended up playing through the first X-Com reboot about 3 times, and each time I restarted it afterwards, it’d start feeling more and more repetitive (seeing the same maps, in particular – some sort of procedural map generator would have been a help).

I’ll have to give this Mutant Zero a closer look once I’ve finished unraveling Cold War conspiracies.
