Yep. Tommy James and the (replacement) Shondells.

The story is that young Tommy and a group of friends formed The Shondells .. they played gigs around to Chicago, got sorta local-popular on their cover of Hanky-Panky, but didn’t hit it big, and broke up.

Fast forward a couple years and suddenly Hanky-Panky is getting east coast play, and the radio and record folks track down Tommy .. who conveniently can’t find any of the original Shondells ..

Still, good song, solid musician, and last I checked still touring.
