OK, I understand that the character of Alfred Pennyworth has developed some badassery, thanks I suppose to Michael Caine’s admittedly rocking take on the subject. But what’s the appeal of tying it into Batman? Would we really not be able to get a show about a kid who’s conflicted about the fact that he has such a ready access to and skill at applied violence? Have superhero IPs really taken over the entertainment world so thoroughly?
