More seriously: The Avengers: Endgame trailer with a bunch o’new footage.

I think that it’s almost all new footage, actually.

I gotta figure out when I’m going to see this. Might have to endure until the Monday after; kid’s got a birthday around that point. But definitely as soon as possible.

  1. I worry they will kill off Cap. ‘Expect’ it more, really.

This year is shaping up to be packed. Between this and Godzilla (even with the environmental stuff) there are a couple things I would like to see.

    1. There’s a pretty good chance of that.

      The problem is –

Chris Evans wants out. He’s made it pretty clear that this is his last movie as Cap. So either Disney recasts the character (always a dicey proposition), or they have to find a way to explain why a character that’s pretty much governed by his sense of duty suddenly bows out. Tony Stark is easy. Just say he finally decided to do as Pepper’s been asking for the last few films, and give up the Iron Man gig. But Cap doesn’t really have any built in options (his relationship with his own love interest – Sharon Carter – has barely been touched on).

So, yeah, it’s pretty much guaranteed that Cap bows out of the MCU after this movie. And off the top of my head, the only two convincing ways to do that are either kill him off, or change the past so that he doesn’t go into suspended animation for several decades. I’m hoping that the people in charge have come up with a convincing third option. But I don’t know what that might be.

      1. The third option is simply to stoneface it. It’s worked for them when people asked in the standalones, Shouldn’t they be calling in the Avengers right about now?

      2. Marvel recasts heroes all the time. I don’t see why Disney should be any different.

        1. I’m ok with it if it one of the people who’s worn the Cap mantle before. Bucky and Falcon are already introduced…

        2. The problem isn’t so much “What happens to Captain America?” as it is “What happens to Steve Rogers?”

You can put a different character in the costume (in fact, I halfway expect them to with the Iron Man suit). You can’t really do the same thing with a civilian identity.

      3. I am not really dreading it, per se. Stakes are high enough that going out in heroic fashion at this point is no shame (unless they drop a bridge on him.) The Infinity Gauntlet gives some interesting possibilities.
