I have absolutely no goram idea what is going on here in this Kingdom Hearts III DLC (‘ReMind’), but my eldest kid’s probably gonna freak.
I was a little surprised at my complete lack of understanding, actually. Certainly I’ve seen enough of the gameplay. But the context eludes me; and the tone seems rather overly dramatic for what appeared to be a fairly silly and family-friendly videogame. Not that I’m objecting (and not that they’d care if I did). I’m just bemused, that’s all.
“I don’t understand what’s going on.” Yeah, welcome to Kingdom Hearts. For a game filled with Disney characters, it is rather notorious for having a completely obtuse plot. I’m not being snarky here, by the way. It stretches across 9 games, contradicts itself in multiple places and makes DC circa Zero Hour seem like a lean and punk rock story. Most of the streamers I saw playing KH3 just had a confused look on their face at the ending. It was not a joyous “Wow! I waited 10 years and this was one heck of an ending!” it was “Wait? What?” If you ignore the plot and just have fun going from Disney World to Disney world, it’s fine. Concentrate on the plot and it’s migraine time.

I’ve watched multiple streamers shotgun the whole series. It. Makes. No. Sense. Just roll with it moment to moment.
