Self-tweet of the Day, Is This A Trick Question? edition.

[UPDATE: The non-bowdlerized version is here, thanks to Constant Reader JustDave; and *I* wouldn’t have erased that last line, myself.]

Because the answer seems highly straightforward.

      1. Just say NO to crazy chicks.
Vegetarianism is a subset of crazy.
Extreme vegetarianism is a subset of extremely crazy.

  1. It’s odd that everything to the left of the rabbit is a series of alternating dogs and cats. Couldn’t they have found some other animals that would have been appropriate? They could have had a bird or two, for instance, like a parakeet or a cockatial.

And as others have noted, cultural biases really did play a role in that picture. It’s only in the most recent decades that people have seen rabbits as anything other than meat or fur animals. They might be cute. But they’re fast breeding menaces that would strip the vegetation bare if it weren’t for constant thinning by animals like hawks and foxes.

My understanding is that the rules regarding horse meat are somewhat relaxed in parts of Europe.

And as most here are probably already aware, dog doesn’t have quite the negative food connotation that it does in the West. A Korean comedy movie set a few centuries ago that I saw a few years ago referenced this, with one of the characters constantly taking time out to “rescue” (i.e. steal) dogs that were destined for the butcher.

    1. Mamma-San swore up and down that “is chicken!”, but I am somewhat familiar with what chickens look like, and that wasn’t chicken.
But it did taste good. (Although you can make an argument that almost anything dipped in batter and fried tastes good.)

Assuming house cat tastes like mountain loin, it wouldn’t be half bad.
      .
I knew people who used to sell horseflesh to the French. Until our government decided to put a stop to the trade, anyway.

  2. So .. where’s the ostrich? What about the shark? Anyone seen the crocodile?
    .
It’s just mammals? Fine .. where’s the elk, the antelope, the various deer, the sheep, the goats .. can’t make a good traditional easter supper or rogan josh without sheep or goat ..
    .
No, I did not mean rogan josh is a traditional easter supper, please don’t be silly.
    .
There’s a lot more to “meat is back on the menu!” than the list above.
    .
