Sonny Bunch called it “TAKEN, but RAMBO.” That seems… fair. And I suspect that RAMBO: LAST BLOOD is itself a bit of a hint. Which also seems fair.
Note that neither Sonny nor I are being critical here. I will happily admit it: I grew up on Rambo movies, and I don’t feel that doing so did me any harm. If Sly wants to get one more movie out before he stops doing these forever, that’s cool with me. Blow up all the terrorists up to save the girl, Johnny R. Blow ’em up so good that Johnny W. stops by and says “Whoa.”
…Nah. That pairing wouldn’t work as a buddy movie concept. Probably.
