The Obligatory STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER trailer.

I know, I know. This is not a welcome cultural artifact, for many of you. But I still retain a stubborn liking for the films. It’ll all be moot in three months anyway, because then STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER will be out and the Empire will smoothly segue to churning out TV shows until the sun runs out of hydrogen to fuse into helium. And, truly: is that not amusing, in and of itself? I submit to you that it is.

  1. Maybe it won’t be as bad as the last one? Honestly, I have more confidence I’ll enjoy the new Terminator movie.

    .

I think I’ll probably wait until it comes out on DVD to see it, unless the reviews are really, really good.

  2. I don’t know if this trilogy is salvageable at this point. To be honest I’m thinking when it’s all over is going to be worse than the prequels overall.

  3. Star Wars .. the saga that .. peaked too soon?

If I were to guess .. Disney is betting on inertia – people who *will go see* every Star Wars film – to get ’em through this trilogy.

Once it’s done, every movie that doesn’t have good year-on-year sales (i.e. everything but Episodes IV V VI) goes into the *back corners* of the Disney Vault …

… and, to Moe’s point, they crank out TV series like Ball Park makes sausage. Just wait, eventually there’ll be a “Jedi Academy” series modeled after “Suite Life” or “Henry Danger”… because they can.

I figure in either 2029 (30th year anniversary) or 2039 (40th year anniversary) Disney will “re-issue” an “updated” version of the original trilogy ..

… and Disney prints even more mountains of ca$h .. especially if they do a “theater release” of their “enhanced version”.
    .
One wonders, though, how they will fix the problems Machete Order fixes .. most notably Jar Jar.

p.s. Marvel doesn’t exactly have the same problem, although it is arguably better to watch the films in an order other than release date ..

  4. At this point having Palpatine in it is the main reason I’m interested at all. Now, “The Mandalorian”, on the other hand…
