Welp, it’s come to this. Trailers for Satanic Panic retro horror-comedy movies. WE SUMMON THE DARKNESS* is in full Eighties schlock mode, and does not look like it’ll rise much above its origins. But WOW they’ve got people smoking cigarettes in the trailer! You almost never see that anymore.
On the other hand, everybody who has reviewed the movie on Rotten Tomatoes liked it. And on the gripping hand, movies that were planning all along to go direct-to-video have a tactical advantage over the major studios right now, since the latter are scrambling to redistribute their very, very expensive pictures in a way that won’t lose them too much money. So you might find it easier to see WE SUMMON THE DARKNESS on April 10th than either BLACK WIDOW or WONDER WOMAN 1984 this summer. Go figure, huh?
