Today was day one of remote learning!

Yay!

:slightly manic look:

At least we were able to get online. But the materials provided were provided digitally, and this is the first time my kids’ school system’s done this en masse, and it all worked out as you’d guess. To be fair, it still worked out about three steps better than I was expecting, but I’m not saying that it worked out well. And I had to watch everything like a hawk to get that far, and you can imagine how well my kids enjoyed that.

Yay!

  1. We’re in Week 4 of tele-learning here, after an extended (2 week) Spring Break. It’s run a gamut as the various teachers cope with the current paradigm. Some are doing okay, some aren’t. Unfortunately, Spawn has adjusted to tele-procrastinating :/

Day one was a Charlie Foxtrot trying to get the right software installed, and coaxing various things to work at the right time with the right software, and making sure that the parents are looped in on teacher-student communications so we can ensure that there are fewer “Oops, I didn’t see that email” excuses going forward. It’s gotten smoother on that front, at least.

  2. So very very glad Junior Cat has successfully launched, and the nieces and nephews are all sufficiently far away I’ve not been pulled into tech support during this .. “lite dystopia”.

  3. The good thing, is that they’re no longer forced to go at the pace of the slowest student in the class.
    Theoretically.

    In practice…
The college of education isn’t known for attracting workaholics or autodidacts.

I have good experiences with easy peasy allinonehomeschool.com and discovery discoveryk12.com if you’re looking to supplement with online homeschool curriculum/resources.

    1. Depending on what elements of history Moe’s SCA contacts are modeling .. archery and fencing both count as Phys Ed .. metalworking, leather working, and wood crafting count as shop .. sewing and cooking count as home economics .. you get the idea.

Moe’s household, in other words, is well suited to the plague.
