02/07/21 Snippet, [Title to be Determined].

I really need a title for this.

Being one short did nothing to speed up the meeting, unfortunately: the other three seemed determined to fill up the conversational volume, although Silversong quite enjoyed the extra servings of flattery from two of them. The third wasn’t saying much, but then Rebecca never did. It was just slightly too predictable of her to be really worrisome, so Silversong worried about whether she wasn’t taking Rebecca seriously enough, instead.

And that tells you how boring these meetings are, Silversong thought to herself. I can spend them chasing my own tail. “All right!” she said aloud, forcefully but not nastily. “I think the Advisory Circle can come to a consensus now.” Kevin — visibly nervous, now that he was no longer the second most useless Advisor present — gratifyingly shut up on the spot.

Silversong gave him a smile acknowledging and approving his submission, and continued. “So, if I am hearing this correctly: we have agreed that poor Sibling Nathan’s duties will be shared by the rest of the Circle until Sibling Rebecca can report on his replacement? And that a suitable memorial to his martyrdom action against the life-haters of the PECZ will be created? — It is so good of you to volunteer for that, Sibling Joy. I can’t imagine wanting anyone else to do Sibling Nathan justice.” She looked at Joy and Kevin; neither seemed inclined to argue with her, or indeed make eye contact.

  1. Hmm, well if this was Seattle, I’d call it something like Emerald Dawn: both as a play off the facade of the original Oz city and the local adaptation of Red Dawn.
