Today I learned how to solve a Rubik’s Cube.

11 year old me is amazed at my brainpower. 51 year old me is amazed at how complicated the instructions are. Every me in between is wondering why the sudden interest*.

  1. That’s an interesting coincidence. My middle-school-aged son took an interest in the Rubik’s Cube within the last year long enough that he learned to solve it without needing to refer to cheat sheets.
He uses it as a fidget device as well. He takes it along when we go to family get-togethers and hands it out to people to scramble so he can solve it.
I wonder why their generation is discovering it just now. I mean, other than that time is a cyclic entity and all.
