My Mini-Review of THE BATMAN.

Short version: the director liked ARKHAM CITY as much as I did! Oh, and THE BATMAN Did Not Suck.

Slightly longer version: very Gothic. Very, very Gothic. They cut way back on some of the super-gadgetry, and put that energy into mood instead. Everything is dark, dirty, cramped (or overstuffed); I wasn’t entirely sure about Robert Patterson, but he wore the suit well. I didn’t really notice the long watch time, and I think it built well for a sequel.

That being said: this is never getting into the DCEU. Never. The very idea is absurd.

  1. You liked Arkham City?

I spent most of the run not liking it as much as Asylum, but learned to loathe it during the “what really happened” flashback cutscene.
(Especially that it completely overruled my actions. I deliberately did not turn my back on that door. I didn’t approach this from that direction… But it was also downright insulting that the Great Detective was just a clueless schmuck. Way to kick a fantasy of power in the balls, guys.)

  2. One of the elements I appreciated very much was showing us the detective aspect of Batman.
