Disney makes Fox an offer it won’t refuse?

Maybe: “Walt Disney Co. raised its offer for 21st Century Fox Inc.’s entertainment assets to $71.3 billion, outbidding Comcast Corp. in a battle for one of the media industry’s biggest prizes.” Bloomberg also notes that “Disney also plans to take on about $13.8 billion of Fox’s net debt. That would lift the total transaction value above about $85 billion.”  Couple that with the suggestion that Disney may be clearing regulatory hurdles, and it looks like the Disney/Fox merger is a couple of steps closer.

Which leads to the important question: how long will it take for Marvel to create an ends credit scene for the next Avengers flick that looks like this?

Incredibles 2 tomorrow.

My wife and I are going to go see it, now that it’s been reasonably established that Incredibles 2 Does Not Suck. In fact, I need to go consult her on times. It’s entirely possible that there may be difficulty getting tickets if we don’t order ahead of time.

Seriously, this movie is going gangbusters. If you want to see it on terms favorable to you, either go plan a little or wait a few weeks.  Or maybe a month.

Miles Morales nod/hint in Spider-Man Homecoming.

Interesting: “Reddit user 1800DESOLATE spotted a Miles Morales nod during Spider-Man: Homecoming’s credits sequence. The specific frame for [Jon] Watts’ directorial credit features Spider-Man’s iconic mask in the background. But as it turns out, zooming out the screen’s perspective reveals Miles Morales’ black and red mask layered behind Peter Parker’s.” It could also be a photo negative, except that Morales’ uncle Aaron Davis (aka The Prowler) appeared in Spider-Man Homecoming.

Quote of the Day, We Would Have Seen Jar-Jar As A Saviour edition.

This quote is accurate (go to the link for context).

George Lucas’ final trilogy plans are so dumb, fans would have begged for the return of Jar Jar

I understand that emotions are high over Star Wars, but: it could have been worse, my droogies.  Merciful God in heaven, it could have so very much worse. Always remember that George Lucas hates Star Wars for what it did to him, and hates us for making it impossible for him to seek closure. If he had been given the chance, Lucas absolutely would have giggled as the knife started to turn.

So, anybody see Incredibles 2 yet?

If you have: The Incredibles 2 doesn’t suck, right? It’s got a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and my wife and I have penciled it in for date night next week if it doesn’t suck and I really, really need for this movie not to suck, OK? The Incredibles was like rain in the desert, back in the days before Marvel started releasing good superhero flicks on a regular basis. I would rather like the sequel not to suck.

…So?

This is not the Aquaman trailer.

It is, however, a link to some pictures from the Aquaman movie, which looks like it’s going to be drawing from the established Aquaman continuity.  …Don’t give me that look. Batman: The Brave and the Bold made Aquaman cool.  It’s perfectly all right now to know that he has a half-brother named Orm that has a Loki-like relationship with Aquaman, which is absolutely why he’s in this movie because audiences ate up the Thor-Loki sibling dynamic with a spoon*.
