The E3 press conference schedule.

Pretty straightforward:

EA kicks things off on Saturday, June 9, with its EA Play briefing, while Microsoft and Bethesda will follow on Sunday afternoon and evening, respectively. Devolver Digital, a relative newcomer to E3 press conferences, will also host one on Sunday. Square Enix follows these on Monday morning; Ubisoft then takes its turn in the afternoon, with Sony’s presentation slated for later that evening. The PC Gaming Show also happens on Monday. Nintendo then concludes the press conferences with its briefing on Tuesday morning.

Come read the story I used to lose the Secret World Legends writing contest!

It’s on Patreon (for free).  I kind of felt bad that ‘Downtime’ didn’t win, until I remembered that the story is about Secret World Legends crashing to desktop, only viewed from the inside and from the point of view of my character’s Agent minions.  Yeeeeeaaah I can see why FunCom might be a little leery about rewarding that one with a free T-shirt for my main character.

Still, I thought that it was all right for a 750-worder.

Reminder: all leaked Fallout 76 footage is likely of the Devil.

Seriously, it’s embarrassing, the way they do it. How do they do it, you ask? “Well, I will tell you:” they take some footage from Fallout 3 or New Vegas, blur it a bit, then apologize because ‘the download was such poor quality.’  Seriously.  I flipped through a bunch of the ‘leaked’ Fallout 4 videos, and maybe one of them was from somebody who actually had access to the game.  And they’re doing the exact same thing for Fallout 76, because eyeballs.

So don’t check them out.  Check out my premium stuff instead, because I’m much more ethical. Which admittedly isn’t hard.

CD Projekt Red trademarks ‘Cyberpunk 2077.’

Just in time for E3: “The studio behind the hit role-playing game series The Witcher might have an announcement planned for E3. The Polish developer filed a trademark for Cyberpunk 2077 with the European Union Intellectual Property Office on June 4. The trademark is currently under examination, and it could mean that CD Projekt RED has big plans for E3 next week.”  This is not a confirmation that CD Projekt Red will be showcasing Cyberpunk 2077 at E3, of course.  As far as I know, CDPR doesn’t even have a press conference scheduled*.

But E3 would be a place to show their new game off… am I indulging in wishful thinking? I probably am indulging in wishful thinking. But it seems logical, even so.

Why I probably won’t get back into Elder Scrolls Online.

I kind of want to get back into Elder Scrolls Online. It’s a fun MMO, with good writing and decent combat.  I don’t really have a good guild relationship in it yet, but I’m sure that I could find one.

But dear Lord those updates are killer.  As in, don’t play for any length of time and you lose most of the day.  I don’t know if this is the rule for other MMOs like WoW, but it drove me sufficiently nuts that I haven’t played in a year (which makes the updates worse, obviously) and I’m on the verge of canceling my subscription.  About the only thing stopping me is that I’m afraid that I’d have to update the game to get to the point where I could cancel…

[UPDATE]: Woops! Hit Publish too soon. The new Summerset expansion sounds like it’s going to be fun.

The best E3 rumors.

…Yeah, it’s weird that I’m into stuff like E3 now.  Anyway, here are the top three things that I’m interested in:

  1. We should hear a good bit more about Fallout 76 at that point from Bethesda.  The rumor mill seems to be coalescing around the theory that it’s a survival RPG. I could play that.  In fact, I was playing that with Conan Exiles, and I’ll be back to play it soon as soon as I think that the game’s stable*. Unless Fallout 76 comes out before then.
  2. They say that CD Projekt Red will be showing off a RPG at E3.  That RPG has to be Cyberpunk 2077. It simply has to.  The universe cannot survive it being anything else. — Unless it was another Witcher title. I’d forgive them for doing that.
  3. Nintendo Switch games.  Since my son is the proud owner of one now — and I’m very maturely waiting on picking up Breath of the Wild until things calm down on that** — I’d rather like to know what games are going to be available on that platform. And if any of them are going to be cheaper than forty bucks. Although I suspect that the answer to that last one is going to be hearty, cynical laughter.

Bethesda proves that its Fallout troll game is strong.

Remarkably strong: they’ve gotten over a hundred thousand people to watch a Twitch live feed of a test pattern and a bobblehead.

Rumor has it that they’re teasing something Fallout-related, and that it’s not a remaster. Rumor, of course, is utterly unreliable. Not ‘wrong;’ ‘unreliable.’ Maybe it will be a new game, maybe it won’t, we probably won’t find out either way today.

…But, hey, great advertising, what-what?
