Less cryptically: Andrew points out that Rudolf Hess’s body was evicted from its grave after the lease ran out*, cremated, and the ashes scattered at sea – largely because Hess’s grave had become a magnet for neo-Nazis, and nobody wants those guys around.  Which is largely why we threw Osama bin Laden’s rapidly cooling corpse into the Indian Ocean**; let jihadi-wannabes try to cover that in flowers.

No, actually, knowing human beings they probably won’t pick one spot and commemorate the SOB there.  They’ll probably pick three or four, then fight with each other which is the ‘best’ one (hopefully, with live ammo).

Palin should only hope Obama was telling the truth about his inattentiveness to her activities. That would be repeating the same mistake some of Obama’s Democrat competitors made back in 2006-07.

They thought that an inexperienced elected state official who’d quit that job to run for higher office, who could give a real good speech but had zero foreign policy experience and who had only written a couple of best-selling books, could not possibly present a serious political challenge to established Washington veterans.

And we all know now how accurate that thinking was.

Man, there are levels to that.  And read the whole thing.

Email campaigners are responsible for planning, writing, and executing grassroots campaigns to advance the President’s agenda for change.

Back in December when Ben Smith reported on this the first time, the DNC’s response was “Your in-box isn’t going to fill itself.” Which is a very unintentionally revealing statement, given that it essentially concedes that the DNC assumes that there’s no such thing as a spontaneous popular movement. After all, if they don’t exist on the Left – and if they existed, the DNC wouldn’t be advertising for people to create them – then they don’t exist anywhere. This probably explains their more nonsensical statements about Tea Parties: the idea of a legitimate populist, grassroots-driven movement is as alien to them as a reactionless drive would be to a modern physicist.

At any rate, they’ve been advertising for this position for a while; presumably the latest plea for astroturfers just ended up in Andrew Malcolm’s mailbox.  While his comment on pay may not be accurate (the first link above does give a salary number of ‘Below $75,000,’ which may be just a search category, and not a hard number or range), this part is dead-on:

…although it’s supposedly all online work, you must be willing to relocate to Washington because, well, that’s the place whose harsh political tone Obama promised to change.

Almost exactly one year ago when Obama was attempting to appoint the same old tax-challenged Washington cronies to his change administration, we wrote here about why Washington doesn’t work — and doesn’t get it. It still doesn’t.

One overlooked reason: Despite their growing grumbles, America’s voters kept electing the same partisan pols. When better than 80% of senatorial incumbents and 90+% of House incumbents get reelected from both sides, often using the most partisan, negative advertising, the lesson learned properly by those pros is that the voters are the hypocrites, denouncing partisanship and gridlock and punishing such tactics by repeated reelection.

This is a warning because while she’s a Republican herself, she’s not the partisan hack that I am about it.  So her vote this November will be a vote against, rather than for.  I’d appreciate it if the GOP’s career politicians kept that in mind, even after next January; I really don’t want to have to go through all of this again in six years…

Olbermann averaged 268,000 viewers last month in that sector. That’s just several thousand sets of those eyes more than Campbell Brown over on CNN. According to one count, Keith even finished in that time slow behind Nancy Grace. Nancy Grace!

And she’s on Headline News, Headline News, the repetitious TV channel the repetitious TV channel inflicted on all U.S. airline travelers within any boarding area around the clock so that when, at least an hour late, each person is finally crammed into plane seats between professional wrestlers, they actually feel relieved.

In case you haven’t guessed yet, Keith Olbermann isn’t precisely on Andrew Malcolm’s Christmas card list, either. and that’s not even the nastiest thing that he wrote…

(Via Andrew Malcolm) Don’t expect miracles, here: Stewart’s a liberal. Stewart also understands that his audience will increasingly be part of the demographic who gets bored listening to people who can’t stop yelling about that Bush guy, who isn’t even President anymore, and back on his ranch in Texas cutting brush or something: and that this is no time to be out of work. So… baby steps.

Unless Obama screws up some more. The Media is always hungry.

Andrew Malcolm seems determined to point out that, yeah, there are still opportunities for political humor in this country, even if Obama did get elected. His spoof of the flight 1549 tapes (utilizing Obama’s latest exercise in flubbed vetting) is a case in point. We join the narrative as Hilda Solis explains her tax situation to the White House:

HS: It was an accident. An unintentional oversight.

HS: For about 16 years.

WH: Oh.

HS: Yes.

WH: How long have you been in public office?

HS: For about 16 years.

WH: Oh.

Read the whole thing: it’s pretty good. Especially if you’re, say, a professional comedian who’s taking the public position that there’s nothing funny to be mined from this administration’s follies…
