Headline title of the day.

I don’t know why this entertains me, but it does.

The Queen makes a surprise appearance on the Antiques Roadshow to discuss family knickknacks

You read that headline correctly, the Queen was on the Antiques Roadshow.

If you ever wondered what a Sunday night in with the Windsors was like, it involves watching the Antiques Roadshow, according to show presenter Fiona Bruce, who said that she’d heard Queen Elizabeth II was a ‘fan’ of the long-running BBC series.

That most definitely seemed to be the case when last night night saw HRH and husband Prince Phillip appear on the show to chat to experts about heirlooms from Hillsborough Castle, her residence in Northern Ireland, where the team were filming.

Staunch small-r republican, me – and Irish Catholic, at that – but I like Elizabeth II. Not that she’s ever invited me over for tea and cakes, mind you.

“Antiques Roadshow: Arkham MA.”

Looked this up after flipping through The Lurker in the Lobby, which is of course a standard survey of Lovecraftian films. It’s pretty good, if you go into it accepting that it doesn’t have a budget and/or an actual film crew:

Honestly, my major issue here is the sound. An overhead boom (I THINK that that’s the right term) would have cleaned that right up. I still liked the whole thing.
