Thought of the morning about the ACTUAL consequences of the Mark Sanford victory.

I was going through stuff looking for something else, and I came across this older piece by John Hayward over at, ahem, RedState:

“Aha!” cried liberals across the land, when the election returns from South Carolina came in, and the zombie political corpse of Mark Sanford had somehow managed to score a landslide victory over the vivacious Elizabeth Colbert Busch. ”Now we’ve got you right where we want you, Republicans! Your hypocrisy on family values will be your undoing!”

The idea is to tear off Representative-Elect Sanford’s zombie arm – the one he prefers to wrap around the trim waistlines of Argentinian cuties – and beat the rest of his party senseless with it. The party of John Edwards, Bill Clinton, Ted Kennedy, John F. Kennedy, and Anthony Weiner will ask the public how they could possibly support a party that would tolerate adulterers in its ranks. When the public raises an eyebrow at these demands, Democrats will say you can’t accuse them of hypocrisy, because they’re not serious about all that “family values” stuff, no matter what they say in red-state campaign ads.

Mayors Against Illegal Guns’ own Bob Filner (D) gets a sexual harassment hotline!

No, not one that he can call, in order to do some:

The San Diego County Sheriff has set up a hotline to deal with sexual harassment claims against the city’s Mayor, democrat Bob “Filthy” Filner.

Apparently Nancy Pelosi doesn’t like it when people point out that fellow CPC founder Bob Filner is a former colleague:

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) may have worked alongside former Rep. Bob Filner (D-Calif.) for 10 years in Congress, but now that he’s facing a string of sexual harassment allegations, she isn’t exactly rising to his defense.

During a Thursday roundtable with reporters, Pelosi was touting a new Democratic push on women’s economic success when a reporter mentioned the allegations against Filner, now the mayor of San Diego, describing him as someone who Pelosi used to work with. Indeed, he and Pelosi were founding members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

“Don’t identify him as my former colleague,” Pelosi shot back with an agitated look.

Because then awful people might point out that Nancy Pelosi’s former colleague Bob Filner was somebody that Pelosi had worked with; and those same people might even mention that Nancy Pelosi has no intention of raking her former colleague Bob Filner over the coals for all that widespread – nay, rampant – sexual harassment. Because awful people don’t understand that principles are all very well, but Nancy Pelosi’s former colleague Bob Filner is still a white, progressive male, and as such is apparently entitled to whatever protection Nancy Pelosi* can muster for her former colleague Bob Filner. Mayor Bob Filner (Democrat) to be keynote speaker at… sexual assault victim benefit.

I am somewhat pleased with myself that I never took any advantage of the license that a white Democratic male apparently has in the Democratic party:

10News has learned [San Diego] Mayor Bob Filner [Democrat] has agreed to be the keynote speaker at a benefit for sexual assault victims.

A women veterans group tells 10News the mayor’s camp has just confirmed the appearance. Filner was originally scheduled to attend as an award recipient.

The group has stripped him of the award. Instead, he is set to address the scandal now consuming City Hall.
