RS at CPAC: Richard Mourdock (R CAND, IN-SEN PRI).

This particular interview with Richard – we’ve talked with him before about the race – is of interest for another reason: Dave Weigel of Slate happened to reference it in his day-in-the-life article about Richard Mourdock at CPAC.  I don’t have any actual beef with Weigel’s reporting of anything that I was involved with – I did ask those questions, more or less, and I was ready to get started on the entire interview rodeo – but it may prove instructive to see the difference between the interview, and the way Dave described it.  Nothing pernicious, but interesting.

Said interview is below:

…and Richard’s site is here.

RS at CPAC: Dan Bongino (R CAND, MD-SEN PRI).

One of the interesting things about CPAC is, of course, that you can meet a whole lot of different candidates.  Below was my conversation with Dan Bongino, who is a former US Secret Service agent now running for Senate in Maryland against Ben Cardin – and if you don’t remember who Ben Cardin is, don’t worry. Cardin’s an amazingly generic Senator who, on his good days, aspires to be as memorable as Herb Kohl.

Anyway, Dan and I talked a bit about CPAC and the race below:

#rsrh I think that I’m going to miss the rest of CPAC.

Sorry if I didn’t manage to see you at it, but I have spent the last two days running around, and I am beat.  Sorry.

RS at CPAC: see the Occupiers! (Open

And tremble at their might!

They have tents, you see. Tents which they carry with them, everywhere that they go. For JUSTICE!

PS: I made this an open thread on RS. These goofballs aren’t even worth a full post.

RS at CPAC: Karen Harrington (R CAND, FL-20 PRI)

This is from yesterday: Karen Harrington is goig up against Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who doesn’t quite have the district that she used to. We’ve talked before, and she had some thoughts on CPAC this time:

Karen’s site is here.

RS at CPAC: Sen. Ron Johnson (R, WI).

I have a lot of these, and probably more getting generated tomorrow – but I didn’t want to not get at least one of these done this evening.  This clip is of Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, who of course came out of nowhere in 2010 to neatly excise Russ Feingold from his Senate seat.  Which was personally one of the more satisfying results of the last election cycle: partially because Feingold’s assault on free speech was a constant irritation to me, and partially because the best presents are often the ones that you weren’t expecting.

At any rate, the Senator and I spoke briefly about CPAC.  Check out the video.

#rsrh The Wi-Fi’s down at this point….

…which means that the video that I just put together via iMovie is going to have to wait until I get home. Heh. So much for on the fly video processing, huh?

Still, no worries; got a lot of useful footage today, which was the idea. There are a bunch more legislators and candidates and whatnot at CPAC than I remember from years past, and they’re more serious than I remember them being, too. Which is to be expected, really.

#rsrh (CPAC) Hey, I have a keyboard again!

Not unrelated to the fact that Blogger’s Row is filling up; I eventually found somebody with a charger with the right power connection.

We got a lot of New Media folks here today. And folks running for office: I’m hoping for a good number of candidate and politician interviews. Already got Richard Mourdock, who’s in the middle of a primary run for Senate in Indiana.

#rsrh Now here at CPAC…

And if you are here and you happen to have an iPad with a Logitech keyboard with you PLEASE stop by Blogger’s Row; I did not bring a charger for my keyboard and I am even now screen-typing.

More seriously, we’re hoping to get a bunch of interviews out of this, as usual.

#rsrh Just a reminder: I’ll be at CPAC this week…

…and hopefully I won’t have an almost-broken ankle to content with this go-round.  As always, feel free to stop by and say hi, particularly if you want to buy me a beer.  And as usual, I mostly plan to spend this doing interviews.  I don’t think that I’ve ever really been at one of the panels.

CPAC’s site is here: it should be an interesting vibe this year.  On the one hand, people are ready to crawl over broken glass to vote Obama out; on the other hand, people want to see the second page of potential candidates.  It’s this sort of dynamic tension that really makes American politics so interesting, yes?

CPAC 2011: Ted Cruz (R PRIMARY, TX-SEN).

Again, this should have been up last week.  Ted’s running for Senator in Texas: he’s the former Solicitor General for Texas and a friend of the site.  We caught up with him at CPAC this year:

Ted’s site is here.
