Democrats resolutely ignoring #Obamacare gnawing on their electoral entrails.

There are times when I wonder whether Barack Obama really wants the Democrats to retake the House of Representatives. Aside from everything else (with ‘everything else’ ranging from ‘the Democrats would have to strain to pretend to be moderates again’ to ‘Obama would lose his favorite devil figures’), it’d mean that Barack Obama would have to interact more with… with… with Debbie.

Democrats will be able to run on ObamaCare and win in 2014, the party chairwoman’s insisted Friday.

Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) said the troubled rollout of ObamaCare’s enrollment website, which has frustrated thousands trying to enter the site and bruised the administration, won’t hurt Democrats in next year’s midterm elections.

QOTD, The White House Feels Debbie Wasserman Schultz Is Too Self-Centered edition.

It’s going to take a lot to break through the background noise of politics and beer that is the RedState Gathering for me this year, but this will do. Debbie Wasserman Schultz is apparently using her position as DNC chair to push her political fortunes, and this is upsetting the Oval Office.

One senior Democratic source said the White House was “absolutely outraged” by Wasserman Schultz’s comments in Politico.
Another said Democrats in the House were just as upset. The source pointed to the number of “I, me or my” statements in the interview and said it reads like Wasserman Schultz thinks “others in leadership now don’t exist.”

Bolding mine.

…The White House really does not have a single clue about their malignant narcissism, does it?

I apologize in advance to any readers who ARE Congressional staffers…

…but I have to say: the aforementioned Congressional staffers need a better class of defenders.

Two senior Democrats complained at a House Appropriations Committee hearing Tuesday that the combination of cuts over the past two years has robbed them of nearly 11 percent of their personal budgets, which average $1.3 million.

Now House officials are looking at an additional 8.2 percent cut, or about $100,000. Total cut over three years: nearly 20 percent.

Karen Harrington (R CAND, FL-23) invites Paul Ryan to campaign in her district.

I happened to be on a conference call with FL-23 candidate Karen Harrington, who of course is the person facing DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz in the general election.  So it’s going to be a tough race; after all, if there’s any seat that the Democrats would be personally embarrassed to lose, it’d be this one.  But when I asked directly whether Karen Harrington would welcome Paul Ryan campaigning for her in the district, she replied:

Absolutely… it would be a honor to have someone of Paul Ryan’s stature. Absolutely: not just because he’s the Vice President [nominee]; if he didn’t accept that role, and it was just Congressman Paul Ryan I would welcome him.

I bring this up because a number of people started this week by suggesting that adding Paul Ryan to the ticket would hurt the GOP downticket, particularly in states like Florida.  While that argument seems to have largely died off – mostly of embarrassment, apparently – I would be remiss in my duties if I didn’t point out that Republican candidates and politicians don’t seem to be particularly nervous about the Ryan pick.  In fact, the default emotion that I’ve been detecting seems to be reliefContinue reading Karen Harrington (R CAND, FL-23) invites Paul Ryan to campaign in her district.

#rsrh @DWSTweets gets shifty-eyed, destroyed on Mediscare by Wolf Blitzer.

(Reminded by the Morning Jolt) No, really, Guy Benson was right: it was brutal. Completely deserved, but brutal.

I’ll spare you a summary, as no actual semantic content was exchanged in this clip: Wolf Blitzer kept pointing out that nobody over 55 has no reason to worry about the Ryan plan, and Debbie Wasserman Schultz kept falling back into classic Zombie Mode.  Honestly, it lacked only the hands-outstretched and a moan of “Rrrrrrrryyyyyyyaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn” to make it classic Romero on Debbie’s part.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz for House Minority Leader?

Debbie Wasserman Schultz for House Minority Leader!

I wasn’t going to say anything about this rumor from the Shark Tank that Debbie Wasserman Schultz was scheduled to get the boot in November for failing to lead the DNC to anything except humiliation, largely because Debbie Wasserman Schultz is a GREAT DNC chair… for us.  I wanted to keep her at that job for just a bit longer; there are entire states that DWS could end up opening up for the GOP.  But then I saw this passage from the National Journal (via Hot Air):

Talk is that Wasserman Schultz will not be asked to serve another term at the DNC, regardless of whether she helps President Obama win a second term. Yet the native New Yorker could use that to her advantage, as she reportedly now has her eye on a House leadership post—perhaps even the highest.

If Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of California decides to relinquish House Democrats’ top spot after November—a possibility oft-discussed in the cloakroom, hallways, and Capitol subway—the similarly polarizing Wasserman Schultz may make a play for her post.

#rsrh Rumor? Speculation? Misplaced Desire? Anyway, Debbie Wasserman Schultz to retire?

I called it ‘misplaced desire’ because Debbie Wasserman Schultz is turning out to be the kind of DNC chair that Republicans like: which is to say, incompetent – and loud about.  So very, very, very loud… but, fortunately, there’s no real indication yet that this Shark Tank report that DWS may not run for re-election.  I predict that if she does do so then Wasserman Schultz will probably not resign; at this point the expense of a second election for the rest of DWS’s term* would be an annoyance, and Florida is already enough of a headache for the Democratic party.

Then again, this assumes that DWS is thinking of anybody except herself, so if she plans to retire she might just cut and run at the same time anyway.

*Article I, Section 2.  “When vacancies happen in the Representation from any State, the Executive Authority thereof shall issue Writs of Election to fill such Vacancies.” And I don’t think that Rick Scott would pull a David Paterson and schedule the special election for the same date as the general.

Interesting: epithet-tossing Jewish liaison Dani Gilbert daughter of Obama bundlers.

Via Legal Insurrection comes this interesting story about DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz and her rather embarrassing Jewish liaison Dani Gilbert.  As you may remember, Ms. Gilbert had some unfortunate comments surface from her Facebook page – essentially, stuff from 2006 where she used admittedly self-derogatory religious/cultural epithets.  At the time, I wondered when exactly DWS had hired the young woman – just on the off chance that the DNC chair had knowingly hired an underaged drinker, which the DNC chair is certainly dumb enough to do.  It turns out that this was a new hire (for the DNC position, at least)… but, hey, that’s where this gets interesting!

Turns out that the DNC already had a Jewish liaison – Ira Forman.  Mr. Forman brings to the table a large amount of experience, as one would expect from a former executive director of the National Jewish Democratic Council.  But he’s just one person – and not the daughter of two Florida Democratic bundlers who put together 500K for the Obama campaign, which is apparently Ms. Gilbert’s primary qualification for the job.  Shockingly, it’s being reported that the Obama administration recognized that Ms. Gilbert may not have been the most suitable candidate for this position; even more shockingly, Debbie Wasserman Schultz defied them… actually, not shockingly.  The Gilberts are also very heavy donor’s to Wasserman Schultz’s own campaign coffers, and since it’s clear by now that Barack Obama plans to get himself elected first and worry about everybody else in the Democratic party when he feels like it, the DNC chair may be feeling the need for a little insurance. #rsrh Quick question: how old was Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s Dani Gilbert…

…when they took this photo? I assume that it was taken the same year (2006) that the Debbie Wasserman Schultz Jewish outreach (!) staffer published a photo of herself while using a derogatory term that I personally will not tolerate being repeated on this website.

Relatedly, when did DWS hire Dani Gilbert?  It’s kind of important: moral turpitude is only established in the Congresswoman’s case if she knowingly hired an underage drinker while said staffer was still underage.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz gets eviscerated by Doug McIntyre of 790 KABC.

Hey, who wants to hear Debbie Wasserman Schultz do the rhetorical equivalent of stepping on a Bouncing Betty?  Well, we all do, of course.  The video below is theoretically 3 minutes, 26 seconds long – but you’ll have to stop it at least twice so that you can recover from your laughing fit.

I need the transcript to this.  It’s practically a moral imperative.
