So my kids still play Disney Infinity…

…ironically enough, given that they don’t even care a little about Lego Dimensions* (which is still selling toys).  I’ve been thinking about this a little, and I think that the real mistake there was in not having backwards compatibility.  I understand coming out with new versions of the hardware.  But Disney Infinity 3.0 absolutely should have been able to give full functionality to Disney Infinity 1.0 and 2.0 figurines and game worlds.  There was no way I was going to buy earlier versions, then go through the trouble of hooking up cables and then unhooking them every time I wanted to play with the Incredibles instead of Star Wars. The upcoming new ‘Lego Dimensions’ #E3 trailer.

It’s the weirdest thing. My kids are LEGO fiends, but they don’t play this game at all:

They’ll play the other LEGO video games, but not LEGO Dimensions. Disney Infinity abruptly shuts down.

For real.

By now you may have heard the news that we have made the difficult decision to discontinue production of Disney Infinity. From the beginning, Disney Infinity was built for you—our fans—and I wanted to take a moment to thank you not just for your support over the years, but for creating a community that made Disney Infinity more than just a game.

If you’re wondering why, it’s because Disney didn’t make earnings today. Parks and games were down, movies way up, but the latter didn’t quite make up for the former.  Stock prices took a hit, and I have no capacity to comment on this further but my kids are gonna be ticked.

Disney Infinity!

This was originally yet another Obamacare post, but… do you care?  Or are numb?  I am numb.  So here:

I’m not entirely sure, but apparently it’s like this amazingly demented Disney sandbox game that will make you buy ALL THE THINGS and I don’t have time for it only I put it on the Wish List anyway because of Mrs. Incredible.  Because Mrs. Incredible is the best of The Incredibles.  This has been established by Science.
