New Fallout 4 content!

…For Minecraft: …Minecraft is adding a Fallout 4 mash up pack to consoles “soon”. The details mention “the coming days” so you probably won’t be waiting too long for the, wait for it, ablockalypse.”  Fortunately or unfortunately as you might see it, that’s apparently just for consoles. Those of us with Minecraft on the PC aren’t getting this one.  I think.

More importantly: no real news on a new Fallout or Elder Scrolls. As for the latter… I want me some Steampunk. And the Dwemer coming back.  And maybe a pony.

New Fallout 4 & Skyrim content! …For a computer pinball game.

So… people still play computer pinball.  I did not know this.

Bethesda Pinball is the next pinball table set from Zen Studios, the company announced today.

Zen Studios posted artwork today featuring Vault Boy, the mascot of Bethesda’s Fallout series. Presumably, though, a set called Bethesda Pinball would feature tables themed for multiple Bethesda Softworks franchises, such as The Elder Scrolls, Doom, Wolfenstein and Dishonored.

I wonder if that’s what that supposed phantom Fallout 4 DLC slot was for.  Probably not, but then I’m not exactly a professional video game designer. So what do I know?

Fallout 4 mods coming to PS4 after all. *Again*.

I swear to God, I keep reading this story something like every couple of months.  They must love torturing Playstation 4 owners, huh? …With ‘they’ remaining carefully undefined, of course. Anyway, GeekTyrant reports that the ‘pissing match,’ to quote the site (I agree with the site, by the way) is over:

It would appear now that things are smoothed over, but with Bethesda offering little to no detail, it’s not immediately clear who caved. Did Sony stand their ground and Bethesda break hoping to boost Skyrim Remastered PS4 sales, or did Sony relent and let Bethesda release the mods the way they want to the platform? Considering Fallout mods and now Skyrim mods were announced, we can assume that this deal was fairly recent as Bethesda likely doesn’t have mod support ready for PS4.

‘Course, this is of academic interest to me, mostly because I don’t have a PS4 and I’m currently anxiously waiting for more mod conversions for the PC version of the Skyrim Special Edition… Continue reading Fallout 4 mods coming to PS4 after all. *Again*.

The Fallout 4 ‘Fusion City Rising’ quest mod.

Short version? Fusion City Rising is an impressively extensive and remarkably bug-free* mod for Fallout 4, but dear GOD but it is not lore-friendly.  It’s also definitely in the ‘grind’ school, which is fine for me because I’m running a level 100 character for the amusement value – but you might find it obnoxious at lower levels.  I’d recommend that you unpack this one for your characters who have already done everything else and are now looking for an opportunity to go drinking in bars with strippers.

But it certainly is pretty.

*Putting the kid in the power armor is… it looks really weird.

Hmm. Is there another Fallout 4 DLC coming…

…or is this merely a mistake? Or something that isn’t DLC? Or not even from Bethesda?  Many people are wondering, and speculating without any flipping knowledge whatsoever.  As to myself: I want a dang motorcycle.  I’m tired of walking everywhere.  Or a freaking bicycle.  I make nuclear fusion plants out of cans and board games; I’m sure I can make a damned bicycle.

Via here.

Ooh. Somebody did a ‘clean up Nuka World’ mod.

For Fallout 4‘s Nuka World DLC, obviously.  And as per here:

It’s called ‘Nuka World Glory,’ and it basically throws out all the Raider junk and makes the park clean. I’m guessing that if you want the full effect, narrative-wise, you’ll need to install this mod AFTER you finish the DLC in full Queen of the Girl Scouts mode. It’s not really believable any other way.  …Hmm. Each part of the park really should have its own settlement.  Alas, I don’t make mods; I just consume them.

Sony hangs Fallout 4’s Playstation 4 players out to dry.

Brilliant, Sony. Absolutely brilliant. Particularly the part where Sony doesn’t even seem inclined to try to spin this – because the PS4 people are gonna be mad about this, and Bethesda is clearly going to be trying to make sure that people get mad at Sony, not them:

After months of discussion with Sony, we regret to say that while we have long been ready to offer mod support on PlayStation 4, Sony has informed us they will not approve user mods the way they should work: where users can do anything they want for either Fallout 4 or Skyrim Special Edition.

Well. It’s Sony’s company. They can do as they like, of course.  But I suggest that with regard to Fallout 4 – or any other Bethesda product going forward – that people don’t buy it for the PS4.  You’re not going to get the full experience.

NVIDIA’s potentially clever Vault 1080 mod for Fallout 4.

I was sufficiently curious of this one that I actually registered with Bethesda.net in order to download the mod.  I haven’t gotten too far underground with it yet, but the lighting stuff really has been pretty neat. Although it may not be as scary as they were trying for:

I mean. NVIDIA has basically taken an ad showcasing what new stuff they’re doing right now and made it into an adventure mod.  Which is actually a very clever idea of them; assuming that the quest itself doesn’t suck, I’m happy to have them show me what funky things they can do with shadows now.  But they actually have to show them to me, which implies that my character can easily survive this adventure.  Then again, my character just rampaged across Nuka World, so that’s maybe a safe bet anyway.

My Mini- and Unapologetically Incomplete Review of Nuka World.

Short version is: if you felt that Fallout 4 has been, up to now, a bit less sarcastic and parodic than you remembered from the previous games, Nuka World will scratch that itch. I enjoyed it, although I didn’t really play it the way it was designed. I’m unapologetic about that, too. Continue reading My Mini- and Unapologetically Incomplete Review of Nuka World.
