Yeeeah you may want to punch the panic button regarding the Twitch hack.

This… doesn’t sound great.

They’re not saying user information is involved in the Twitch breach, but you’d have to be insane to trust a 4chan leaker. If you use Twitch, I would recommend changing passwords and slap on two-factor authorization. I know it’s a pain in the ass, but so are people getting your credit card number.

Note that I am not putting a link to this Vice article in Twitter itself, as the company is being pretty damned prickly about how allegedly the bitcoin hack happened because of somebody on the inside participating. Which just adds a certain something to this entire Carnival of Bad Decision-Making, doesn’t it?

I don’t blame Twitter for pulling the plug on the blue-checks, mind you*. The kill switch is there for a reason. But, for everybody else (and for the love of God):

How many politicians will abruptly resign because of the Ashley Madison hack?

For those of you who don’t know: Ashley Madison is a for-profit website that was explicitly set up to help people commit adultery.  It got hacked.  Hoo, boy, but it got hacked. The hackers, remarkably, then demanded that Ashley Madison shut itself down – or else the hackers would release the information into the wild. Apparently Ashley Madison did not comply.
