Week to go on the last Hobbit flick.

Well, it’s out on Wednesday, but I probably won’t be able to see it on Wednesday, so I’ll see it on Thursday. I’ve had fun watching these, although I will freely admit that they weren’t as absolutely awesome as The Lord of the Rings trilogy.  They’re just reasonably awesome… which is more of a problem than one might think.  I mean, how can a film measure up against The Fellowship of the Ring, which was just insanely ridiculously good?  It seems almost unfair to expect it to.

Oh, well.  Reasonably awesome will, in fact, do.

The inevitable ‘Battle of the Five Armies Trailer’ post.

Half of you will hate it, half of you will love it – and half of you who hate it will be going to see it on the first night anyway, and half of you who love it will be wincing at That Scene (you’ll know it when you see it, trust me). Me? …I’m good, thanks.

A couple of things about this:

First off: this is what happens when a song stops being contemporary and starts being myth. I mean, compare that parody to this one*:

The latter assumes that you’ve seen the original; the first merely assumes that you know of the original. Completely different humor.
