LIBRE smacks HuffPo back on Latino outreach.

So, let me set the background, here.  The Huffington Post decided last week to run a hit piece (the lack of link is deliberate, and meant as an insult) on the LIBRE Initiative, which is a Spanish-language activist group that is also big on small-government conservatism (full disclosure: my friend/former RedState colleague Brian Faughnan happens to works for them). This sort of thing infuriates the (largely white) progressive leadership cadre, mostly because said leadership cadre has written for themselves a wonderful narrative where they’ve selflessly taken up the White Enlightened Man’s Person’s Burden to ward and foster and nurture all those disadvantaged Persons of Color.

Quote of the Day, By All Means, The Latino Vote Should Punish Democrats edition.

I heartily endorse this sentiment.

Presente Action is taking the bold move of asking our members to consider voting against the “dirty four” —the Senate Democrats who persuaded Obama to continue his inhumane deportations until after the election: that means you, Sens. Hagan, Landrieu, Pryor, and Shaheen.

Not the previous nonsense attacking the GOP, of course. But the author has a point: I mean, look at the African-American vote. Absolute brand loyalty to the Democrats, and all it gets that particular demographic is the back of the Democrats’ hands…

Harry Reid pretends to think that the border is secure.

There will be no peace in Congress while this man is Senate Majority Leader.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Tuesday asserted the southern border is secure despite the massive surge of illegal minors from Central America that has overwhelmed federal agencies.

…Yeah, let me interrupt real fast: the above sentence is how The Hill expects its writers to handle utter nonsense like Harry Reid’s. Sure, the temptation to instead gibber and meep at the sanity-ripping talking points may be nigh-insurmountable, but The Hill expects the people who write for it to surmount the challenge anyway. It’s a professionalism thing. Besides, this isn’t even the most idiotic thing said to a political reporter.

“The border is secure,” he told reporters after the Senate Democrats’ weekly policy lunch. “[Sen.] Martin Heinrich [(D-N.M.)] talked to the caucus today. He’s a border state senator. He said he can say without any equivocation the border is secure.”

…I bet that Martin Heinrich is now regretting taking the last piece of banana cream pie from the Senate cafeteria even though everybody knows that Harry Reid loves banana cream pie and that he looks forward to having a piece of it every Thursday. Because some people have no consideration and Heinrich is apparently one of them. Continue reading Harry Reid pretends to think that the border is secure.
