My review of ‘Rim of the World.’

Honestly, my Tweet earlier will do.

Admittedly it might have started a little slow, but the kids had a ball making The Rim of the World and I enjoyed watching them in this movie. It’s on Netflix now if you want to watch a bunch of kids get their 1980s movie nostalgia on. I certainly did.

Interesting:

If the movie Rim of the World, which premiered on Netflix this week, looks a little familiar to you, that’s on purpose. It’s the story of four kids, thrown together at summer camp in the middle of an alien invasion, faced with the task of carrying the one object that can defeat the aliens across war-torn Los Angeles. The ‘Rim of the World’ Netflix trailer.

I think that Rim of the World is perhaps just a little too pleased with itself.

But if you want to watch a team of plucky kids — who, frankly, look like they were designed in a cutting-edge lab and then focus-tested by an absolutely top-of-the-line social engineering firm — deal with an alien invasion while cracking jokes in a family-friendly format, this may be your jam. …And yes, OK, when I put it that way it doesn’t actually sound wretched. The trailer made me laugh in a couple of places. Which is its job, really.

Rim of the World comes out May 24th on Netflix.
