QotD, Gee, I Wonder Which Site They Should Get To Host A ’16 GOP Debate edition.

(H/T: Hot Air Headlines) Byron York, on the RNC’s sudden realization that the Year of Hell that was the 2012 Republican primary may not have been the smartest thing that we’ve ever done. Anyway, they’re going to revamp the blessed thing (bolding mine):

…who should conduct the debates in 2016? “That’s a tricky question,” says Fleischer. “Putting on a proper live debate is no simple matter, and usually the people who are good at it are the networks or the cables. So it’s something we’ve got to work through and talk through, to figure out how the debates are going to be reflective of what a Republican primary voter thinks.” In the end, the party might decide to assign a few debates to organizations that did not conduct them in 2012.

YES. THAT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA.

A quickie preliminary look at the committees’ debt situation.

#rsrh Obama catches up to Romney fundraising in August.

…Wow.  Let me just have a moment where I contemplate the fact that I got to write that sentence out.  The pre-existing Democratic plan for the election went well and truly off of the rails early this cycle, huh?

:pause:

OK, moment’s done.  Anyway: $114 million to $111 million; this total is Obama/DNC vs Romney/RNC, mind you.  Note, by the way, that Romney’s releasing his cash-on-hand ($168 million) early and Obama has not. Since Obama only had $125 million at the end of July, it is exceedingly unlikely that Obama has more money on hand than Romney; and unless Obama stopped spending more money than he took in in July (Romney did spend more money than he brought in, for the first time) then Obama probably doesn’t even have $125 million at this point, either.  And may I say that it’s marvelous fun to have an opponent who can outspend you for the entire damned campaign? I would suggest that the Democrats try the sensation out for themselves… only they’re about to do so whether they want to, or not.

That’s pretty much it, except a helpful suggestion to people selling products and services to OfA/DNC: go ahead and take a check; just not a post-dated one.  And cash it right away.

And so the 2012 Republican convention ends.

Good closing speeches – especially Romney’s – but this is the important thing that you need to take away from it:

Eight billion, five hundred and thirty nine million, five hundred and twenty six thousand, three hundred and thirty three dollars and seven cents.  That’s how much debt the country racked up since the convention started.

This. Must. Stop.

Elizabeth Warren’s Occupiers to attack Tampa’s EMS during GOP convention?

“EMS” standing for “Emergency Medical Services,” of course.  Anyway, that’s the claim – and let us not pretend that the Occupy Movement has not been fully converted into a front for the blackshirt anarchists, shall we?  The following will be familiar to anyone who watched how the antiwar movement got hijacked by the exact same people:

So people have to remember, this isn’t a bunch of unorganized and disorganized kids. This is Lisa Fithian, she’s the one who led the unions and the anarchists to shut down Seattle at the ’99 World Trade Organization protest in Seattle. It’s not something to play around with because when this is all said and done the FBI informants will have stopped bomb plots just as they and I did last time. And when that happens conservatives need to rally around because the left media and the entire left establishment who claims they have nothing to do with these anarchists, they will defend them and dirty the name of anybody who exposes them just as they did to me and just as they did to Andrew. They will defend their darlings and attack the character of anyone who holds them accountable and calls them out. And that’s what’s going to happen this time. We need to stand up as a movement, recognize what the threats are, and we need to defend the people who are keeping us safe and hold accountable and demand accountability for the people who are trying to interfere with our rights to assemble.

The other thing that they’re trying to do is that they have a coms group—and this is breaking news you need to know this—they have a coms group that is trying to shut down the EMS communications structure for the city. That’s really happening. They’re trying to shut down the communications structure for the city for law enforcement and emergency medical personnel.

Democrats pass on chance to neutralize Cardinal Dolan appearance at RNC.

You’d think that somebody would have jumped on Timothy Cardinal Dolan’s offer, given that the cardinal’s agreement to offer a prayer at the RNC was a pretty big deal.  Dolan runs the Archdiocese of New York, as well as the Conference of Catholic Bishops.  If you need to know what that means, in practical terms, that’s actually easy to show: he’s the equivalent of this guy (mild language warning*)

The one nodding at 3:00. Continue reading Democrats pass on chance to neutralize Cardinal Dolan appearance at RNC.

#rsrh Joe Biden To Open His Mouth in Tampa during GOP convention.

Five bucks says Joe Biden shows up at said convention, somehow gets up on the podium, and introduces Tim Scott (R, SC-01) as the President of the United States.  By accident.
