Book of the Week: Silverlock.

I’m surprised that John Myers Myers’ Silverlock hasn’t been done before. Maybe I assumed that all of you already have it. If you don’t, well… be warned. You will be seduced into reacquainting yourself with Western literature. And it’ll be very sneaky about it, too.

And so, adieu to Lammas Night.

Silverlock is on the Kindle!

My wife – who is the most awesome wife EVER – emailed me to let me know that John Myers Myers’ Silverlock is on the Kindle.  If you’ve never heard of that book… you lucky so and so; that means that you get to look forward to reading it for the first time.  I envy you that sensation.

To give you an idea of precisely how neat this book is: when it came time to do the introduction for the 1979 edition, Poul Anderson, Larry Niven, and Jerry Pournelle were apparently so adamant about doing one that the book actually has introductions from all three.  I’ve had three copies and worn out two; and I think that I still have some Amazon gift certificate credit left, so if you’ll excuse me…

Blagojevich stripped of office, any reason to keep his mouth shut.

They threw him out 59-0:

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich has been convicted at his impeachment trial and thrown out of office.

His removal comes nearly two months after his arrest on charges of trying to sell Barack Obama’s vacant Senate seat. He becomes the first U.S. governor in more than 20 years to be removed by impeachment.

…and AoSHQ reports that they’re apparently setting it up so that he’ll never hold office in Illinois again.

In light of that: Blagojevich likes literary references. I’m making one under the fold. (more…)
