Spanish burglar finds evidence of pedophilia, so tips off cops, OF COURSE.

I am not entirely certain why anybody would be surprised to hear that a burglar, having discovered that s/he had just robbed a pedophile soccer coach, would indeed tip off the authorities as a matter of simple civic duty:

The [stolen VHS] tapes had been placed beneath a brown car parked in the south-central [Spanish] city of Jaén, along with a note giving them the address of the suspect, police said in a statement.

“I have had the misfortune to have these tapes fall into my hands and feel  obliged to submit them so you can do your work and put this … in jail for life,” the anonymous note read.

#rsrh Spanish socialists get gutted in elections.

Shocking.  Well, not really: it’s not like the Socialists were doing all that great a job over there.  Still, good news.  Mind you, the equivalent in American terms would be if the Communist party lost an election to the Democrats…

With 84 percent of the votes counted, the center-right Popular Party went from 154 seats in the last legislature to 187, while the Socialists plummeted from 169 to 110, their worst performance ever.

Looks like it’ll be an actual majority, too: difficult to manage in these parliamentary systems, so that should be interesting.  Good luck, guys: God knows that you’re going to need it…

#rsrh So… it was like she was watching herself…

do these things, right?

Antonio Cosme Velasco Soriano, 69, had been sent to jail for nine years in 1998, but was let out on a three-day pass and returned to his home town of Benejúzar, 30 miles south of Alicante, on the Costa Blanca.

While there, he passed his victim’s mother in the street and allegedly taunted her about the attack. He is said to have called out “How’s your daughter?”, before heading into a crowded bar.

Shortly after, the woman walked into the bar, poured a bottle of petrol over Soriano and lit a match. She watched as the flames engulfed him, before walking out.

She was there, sure, but it was as if she was in some sort of dream after she saw the guy who raped her then-thirteen year old daughter, right?  And she couldn’t wake up, right?  It was all very disconnected and confused and she doesn’t really know what happened next, right?

RIGHT?

PS: For the record… when you find your daughter’s rapist who should still be in jail instead out on furlough and about to have a beer, and said rapist taunts you; you should not GO TEMPORARILY INSANE, find a bottle of gasoline, douse the rapist with it, and then set him on fire.

That’s not nice.

Yes, but do you ring up supermarket cocaine as produce?

You think that you’re having a bad day at work?

Drug smugglers appear to have made a major slip-up, after huge quantities of cocaine were delivered to supermarkets in Spain hidden in boxes of bananas.

Try being a drug distributor who has to explain to his boss why almost two hundred pounds of cocaine is now available on Aisle 5.

Spanish government gets tired of judges playing Junior ICC.

(Via AoSHQ Headlines) I will now treat the news that Spain has decided to put its judges back under some semblance of control and respect for sovereignty:

Spain is moving to rein in its investigative judges from trying alleged crimes against humanity from around the world, a role that has led to high-profile cases against the governments of the U.S., China, Israel and others.

Under pressure from irate foreign governments, Spain’s Congress on Tuesday passed a resolution to limit the jurisdiction of the crusading judges to cases in which there is a clear Spanish connection — and no home-country investigation already under way.

…with all the respect for the organized antiwar movement’s position and dignity that either deserves.

Protesters were out there believing
That Garzon would end all their seething
With his witch-hunting of those
Lawyers writing out memos –
But now they’re stuck at ‘heavy breathing’.

Thanks, I’m here all week. Try the veal!
