How does one go about growing it? I know how to grow a Twitter account and a blog account; what’s different?
This is a perfectly serious question, by the way: and if it helps, I expect that the Tumblr will be pretty exclusively nonpolitical (the posts will also end up here, so the lack of comments thing will be neatly avoided).
For what it’s worth, my daughter claims to have a lot of followers (100’s?) and claims the secret is constant updates. She puts photos and whatnot into some sort of queue that then automatically posts one per hour so that there are always updates whenever someone checks in. I don’t know the nuts and bolts of how she does this.

Think of Tumbler as Twitter w/ Pics. You don’t have the character length, but unless you’re posting poems or stories, it’s not a set-up for long entries.
On the other hand, it’s good for pics, links, and idea stuff. Something like my wife uses Pinterest, only more masculine.
