QotD, No, Glenn Is Being Deadly Serious Edition.

Glenn Reynolds, reacting to the news that Egypt’s ‘democracy’ is turning into ‘one man, one vote, one time:’

If you’re a fan of liberal democracy in Egypt, it’s probably time to start shooting people. If you’re not up to that, you might as well leave.

It always comes as a surprise to some people that democracy will go away, if you let it.  Or if you support the people who want to speed it along on its journey.

PS: Might as well get this over with… please, don’t be meshuggeneh.  We are nowhere near being at that position, here in the United States – there are plenty of people all over the planet who would be rightfully offended at the suggestion that losing two elections in a row is comparable to their political travails – and if I may be frank/crude? The only thing that the Right accomplishes when someone on our side indulges in that sort of hyperbole is to give a random Lefty, somewhere, a hate-erection.

So take it somewhere else. Pretty please, with sugar on top.

  1. While I concur with your conclusion, I do point out that the Soviets had a real .. thing .. for plebiscites where they could control the outcome. The modern Left sure look like their fellow travelers… and while we’re not to President-for-life we are certainly sledding on the slippery slope.

  2. Concur with acat, and would add that the left sure seems to me intent on doing all they can to ” speed it along on its journey.” **sigh** Can’t the damfools read history?
