Barack Obama v. Disappointed Iowan Sixth Graders.

Mr. President? I’d like to introduce you to some of the American people that you are harming with your petulant closing of the White House to tours.

“The White House is our house! Please let us visit!”

Two things about that:

  1. It’s true.  More to the point: the White House is not actually Barack Obama’s house.  It’s assigned housing that comes with the job, and his employers will expect Barack Obama to be fully moved out of it at the end of his current contract.
  2. Is this really what passes for a suitable opponent for the President, these days?  Is Barack Obama really reduced to picking fights with sixth graders?  …Embarrassing, that is.  Embarrassing for me; the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy deserves a better class of opponent than this.

PS: The Easter Egg roll is still going on, by the way.  Largely because that’s traditionally been a good opportunity for the President to get some warm, fuzzy photo ops in.

    .
And disappointing a bunch of small children to the point of tears would be tough even for the press in this country to put a positive spin on.

  2. But the ReThuglicans made him do it!!

Maybe if the White House wasn’t paying caligraphers something around $400,000 in salary & benefits they could reopen the tours…Or paying Janitors $50+k a year. . . or playing golf with Tiger Woods. . . or taking 2 planes on vacation instead of 1. . .
