Michele Bachmann to not seek fifth term.

Michele Bachmann‘s either about to be under investigation or running for Senate; either way, good luck trying to pick up a R+8 district in this election cycle, Democrats.  The woman’s not on my Christmas card list, for various and sundry reasons, but I will forgive her a bit for providing me with some indirect amusement next year.  You see, the Left is telling itself that they were going to win this district next year anyway, and now they’re going to be sure that the Democrat candidate that couldn’t win last cycle is going to win this cycle.  Despite the fact that his candidacy will be doomed the moment somebody demands, point blank, that he explicitly reject House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi*…

*Now there’s a person that the Democrats should be conniving to force into retirement.  But they won’t, bless their hearts.

  1. Heh. By leaving under a cloud, she ensures the seat stays in the right (GOP) hands .. *and* bleeds the Dems.

She’s not on my festivus card list either, but .. this is how a team player operates.

p.s. you think she’ll challenge Franken?

    1. If there is anybody Franken wants to run against its Bachmann. Paulsen, Pawlenty, and Coleman would have been decent candidates all three have declined, Mike McFadden might be a good candidate, similar to Ron Johnson.

      1. Yep. Bachmann has been deliberately polarizing and doesn’t have the statewide cred of any you named.

I don’t know enough about McFadden to comment, but I will say business types getting into politics has been kind of hit-or-miss ..

        1. At the very least Business types allow us to spend money needed elsewhere. I’ve never liked Bachmann and never understood why people considered her similar to Jim DeMint. DeMint picked fights with RINOs and the GOP establishment going squish on principles. Bachmann picked fights with fellow conservatives. I remember immediately after the 2010 midterms when Mike Pence stopped being House Repub. Conference Chair. Bachmann picked a fight with Jeb Hensarling for no good reason other than that she was “anti-establishment” heck Reagan was anti-establishment until he became President, then he became THE Establishment. She’d probably pick fights with him today. But I’m sure Louie Gohmert will fill in nicely for her after she’s gone.

  2. Okay something is weird up in MINN. the 6th District is R+8 and the most Republican in MINN. Erick Paulsen and John Kline’s districts are both R+2 but fairly safe due to incumbency, Minn-08 is D+3 taken by the GOP in 2010 but lost again in 2012 and should be taken again in 2014. Minnesota-01 is R+1 but has been held by a Democrat since 2006, and Minnesota-07 is R+5 but has been held by a Democrat since 1990! How does a Democrat hold a GOP district that long? The RCCC has really dropped the ball on Minnesota is all I know.
